The Herzberg is committed to adult education. The House of Education and Encounter is led by the private foundation Herzberg and supported by the 600-member association Herzberg. With a considerable sum, the Aargauer Kuratorium promotes annually the educational and cultural commitment.

The Herzberg has been, established in 1936 along the lines of the Danish folk high schools of Fritz Wartenweiler, pioneer of Swiss adults. Since then, the house is a meeting place for people from all cultural, political, social and religious circles.

The Herzberg offers events that are the interpersonal relationships, the environmental understanding and the exchange of ideas between generations, cultures and worldviews in the foreground. Tolerant behavior and responsible thinking and actions are promoted. The Herzberg is host groups available for professional and personal development. For all events, a versatile infrastructure and technical conference equipment is available.

The Herzberg is conducted holistically and environmentally friendly: maintenance, cleaning, and care of the environment carried out according to ecological principles. The whole food processed local fresh organic produce and meat from appropriate production, including from biodynamic guided Herzberg-Hof.

The Herzberg works cover costs, but not for profit. Ethical and ecological principles and respect for the environment underlie all action. The team works on partnership principles. The employees are involved in the decision-making processes: ownership is promoted at all levels.
